Classes Still Available in Weekend College and Flex Start Programs

Worried that you missed the start of classes and now will have to wait four months before heading back to college?

There’s still time to sign up for classes this fall at Valencia College. The college offers two flexible programs that allow students to pursue their associate’s degrees in a nontraditional calendar.

For students who cannot attend classes on weekdays, Valencia is offering its Weekend Degree Program at East Campus, located at 701 N. Econlockhatchee Trail, Orlando. Through the weekend degree program, students can complete their entire Associate in Arts degree on the weekends – and finish in as little as six or seven terms.

The program is designed for working students who prefer to take classes on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. The weekend program offers flexible scheduling through a combination of traditional, online and hybrid courses – which combine some in-class instruction with online instruction.

In addition, students who missed the registration deadlines for the fall term can still sign up for Valencia’s Flex Start classes. Flex Start offers a compressed schedule for classes, so students can start classes later in the semester. Instead of a 16-week semester, the classes are typically 8 to 10 weeks long.  This fall, Valencia’s Flex Start classes begin on Oct. 3 and Oct. 20.

Flex Start classes offer the same amount of work, but students complete it in a shorter period of time. That may not work for everyone, but it provides flexibility for students who may have missed earlier registration deadlines.
