Valencia College Celebrates Holiday Season with Free Concert Series

Valencia College’s School of the Arts and Entertainment will usher in the 2018-2019 holiday season with three free concerts at the East Campus Performing Arts Center.

Festivities kick off with the Winter Choral Concert on Wednesday, Nov. 28, as The Valencia Singers feature sacred and secular works composed by Sir Edward Elgar, Jake Runestad and Arthur Harris (arrangements by Shawn Kirchner and Arthur Harris).

The Contemporary Ensemble will perform musical theater favorites from “Sister Act,” “Waitress,” “Memphis,” “Annie” and other musicals. The show will take place from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. https://events.valenciacollege.edu/event/winter_choral_concert_2233

On Friday, Nov. 30, the college’s instrumental musicians join the choral ensembles to perform popular carols and seasonal tunes, as well as music from the Renaissance and Baroque eras. Also featuring early Christmas songs from the Classical period, the Music Department Holiday Show promises “to get you into the holiday spirit.” https://events.valenciacollege.edu/event/music_department_holiday_show_2828

On Tuesday, Dec. 4, the Winter Concert hosts the budding musicians of the Valencia College Jazz Ensemble as they close out the fall semester with sounds of the Big Band era, capturing the jazz style and presenting it with holiday flair.  https://events.valenciacollege.edu/event/jazz_concert_9880#.W-njM2aZPuQ
