Although the public tends to believe that business ethics is an oxymoron, Williams urges us to consider if it’s possible to prosper while doing good. He’ll discuss many examples, including Microsoft, Coca-Cola and Merck, and will outline how business managers can behave ethically while attaining outstanding business performances.

The lecture is part of Hesburgh Lecture Series and is presented in partnership with the Notre Dame Club of Greater Orlando. It is free and open to the public and will take place at Valencia College’s West Campus, in Room 11-106 from 2:30-3:45 pm. Valencia’s West Campus is located at 1800 S. Kirkman Road, Orlando.

Since 1986, the Hesburgh Lecture Series has brought a taste of Notre Dame’s academic excellence to alumni and their local communities.

Williams is the editor or author of 20 books, as well as numerous articles on business ethics in journals. He is the director of the Center for Ethics and Religious Values in Business in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. A former Naval Officer, Williams is a Catholic priest in the Congregation of Holy Cross. He served as associate provost of Notre Dame from 1987-94 and is a past chair of the Social Issues Division of the Academy of Management. In 2006, he was appointed a member of the three-person Board of Directors at the United Nations Global Compact Foundation. The United Nations Global Compact is the world’s largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative with more than 6,000 businesses around the world as members.
