West Campus Honors Students Create a Mural to Memorialize Pulse Victims

Orlando, FL – To pay tribute to the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting, Valencia College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, on Dec. 16 will unveil a mural that Valencia students created to memorialize the 49 victims killed.

Faculty, staff and students, along with the public, are invited to the memorial service and the unveiling, which is dedicated to the seven former Valencia students who died in the Pulse massacre.

The event will take place at Valencia’s West Campus in the Special Events Center (Building 8) on Dec. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event will include the release of 49 rainbow-colored balloons over Lake Pamela, followed by a buffet dinner and remarks by West Campus Phi Theta Kappa president Tatiana Bowling and executive vice president Marissa Huang.

Each year, Valencia’s Phi Theta Kappa students participate in a college and community service project. This year, the officers of the West Campus chapter chose to memorialize the Pulse victims.
