Valencia’s Summer Dance Concert Set for July 12-13 on East Campus

Orlando, FL – Valencia College will hold its annual Valencia Dance Summer Repertory Concert on July 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Valencia’s East Campus.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will showcase the work of high-school students who participate in the Valencia Summer Dance Institute, as well as Valencia College dance performance majors.

The Valencia Summer Dance Institute is a four-week program that provides low-cost instruction to high-school students from Central Florida. Participating students are given the opportunity to work with college and guest instructors.

Choreographers for Valencia Summer Dance Institute dancers include: Lesley Brasseux Rodgers, artistic director for Valencia Dance and Valencia dance faculty; Robert Kelley, Valencia dance alumnus; and Princess Israel-Cooper, Jendayi Phillips and Kiley Sandh, current Valencia dance performance majors.

Choreographers for the Valencia dance majors include: Jeanne Travers, dance professor at the University of South Florida; Kevin Veiga, dance professor and dance coordinator at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland; Eric Yow, artistic director of Yow Dance, an Orlando-based modern dance company and Central Florida Community Arts’ director of dance; Jessica Smith, Valencia dance performance alumna and a member of the Valencia dance faculty; Emily Cordell, Valencia dance performance alumna and former member of Valencia dance faculty; Amanda Cox, dance educator and the director of the dance company at University High School; and Lesley Brasseux Rodgers, artistic director for Valencia Dance and Valencia dance faculty.

Ticket prices are $12 for the general public and $10 for senior citizens and Valencia College students, faculty and staff.
