In an effort to keep the Valencia community safe during and following Hurricane Dorian, Valencia College will remain closed through Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, and will reopen on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019.
The drop-refund deadline will be extended to Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at 5 p.m.

UPDATED Aug. 31, 1 p.m.:
With Hurricane Dorian expected to impact Central Florida on Tuesday, all Valencia College campuses will remain closed through the end of day on Tuesday, Sept. 3. All classes – including online classes — and campus activities are cancelled.
College officials are closely monitoring the storm’s path and progress. Updates and a reopening date will be posted here and on the college’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) as soon as a decision is reached.
UPDATED Aug. 29:
Due to the potential impact of Hurricane Dorian, all Valencia College campuses will close starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, and will remain closed through the end of day on Tuesday, Sept. 3. All classes – including online classes — and campus activities are cancelled.
All college campuses, offices and bookstores will shut down during this time.
College officials are closely monitoring the storm’s path. At this time, Valencia officials anticipate that the college will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
The safety of our students is our first priority and we encourage all students to find a safe, secure place to ride out the storm. Students who have the time and ability to complete their coursework are encouraged to do so. Those unable to complete work and meet assignment deadlines due to the impact of the hurricane can turn them in at a later date after the college reopens. Upon returning to class, students are advised to check with their professors for guidance on deadline extensions.
All updates will be communicated on the college’s website, www.valenciacollege.edu, as well as through the college’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and Atlas email. Students and staffers are also advised to download the college’s security app, Valencia Safety, for up-to-date communication as well.
Drop-refund deadline:
The drop-refund deadline originally scheduled for Sept. 4 has been extended. A new deadline will be posted when college officials announce a date when the college will re-open. Check back here or on the college’s social media accounts for updates.
UnionWest:
With the storm is expected to make landfall on Monday morning, Valencia students who live in UnionWest at the Downtown Campus are encouraged to move to safe, off-campus locations by noon on Sunday, Sept. 1.
UnionWest residents who wish to remain on campus will be allowed to remain in their rooms. No families, friends or non-service or emotional support animals will be allowed to ride out the storm in UnionWest.
As a reminder, Valencia College does not serve as a public shelter during hurricanes.
