Science Guru, NOVA Host David Pogue to Speak at Valencia College

ORLANDO – Edgy and hilarious science expert David Pogue has a front-row seat to observe the blazing-fast torrent of new inventions. On March 25 and 26,  Pogue will speak at Valencia College, predicting which new technologies will cause major disruptive changes to American society.

Pogue_David(300)A former technology columnist for the New York Times, Pogue has now moved to Yahoo Tech, where he keeps his finger on the pulse of technological change. He is a regular contributor to “CBS Sunday Morning,” hosts “NOVA Science Now” on PBS and writes a monthly column in Scientific American magazine. See some of his Pogue’s latest clips here.

With over 3 million books in print, Pogue is one of the world’s bestselling how-to authors. He wrote or co-wrote seven books in the “for Dummies” series (including Macs, Magic, Opera, and Classical Music). In 1999, he launched his own series of funny computer books called the Missing Manual series, which now includes 120 titles.

Pogue graduated summa cum laude from Yale in 1985, with distinction in music, and spent 10 years conducting and arranging Broadway musicals in New York. He has won two Emmy awards, two Webby awards, a Loeb award for journalism and an honorary doctorate in music. He lives in Connecticut with his wife and three children. Pogue will be speaking at Valencia’s East Campus at 1 p.m. on March 25 in the Performing Arts Center. Valencia’s East Campus is located at 701 N. Econlockhatchee Trail, Orlando.

On March 26, at 1 p.m., Pogue will be speaking at Valencia’s West Campus, inside the Special Events Center. Valencia’s West Campus is located at 1800 S. Kirkman Road, Orlando.
