Orlando, FL – Valencia College’s Continuing Education Department will hold an Open House on Aug. 14 to welcome business and community leaders to visit the department’s new home on Valencia College’s West Campus.
The Open House will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Building 10 on Valencia’s West Campus. The West Campus is located at 1800 S. Kirkman Road, Orlando.
Tours of the new building will be available, along with information on the programs being offered. Light refreshments will be served.
Formerly located on Sand Lake Road, Valencia’s Continuing Education Department is now housed in Building 10, which features classrooms, a testing center, a client services center and the college’s new Collaborative Design Center.
The Collaborative Design Center is an innovative space designed to be used by companies, nonprofits and community organizations that want to create strategic plans, define visions and priorities, and troubleshoot problems.At Valencia’s Collaborative Design Center, companies and organizations will have access to the expertise of a professional facilitator, who will guide discussions and encourage participants to use creativity to turn big ideas into practical solutions.
Collaborative design is a groundbreaking concept, but one that’s starting to take hold around the country. Facilitated sessions are being used by companies nationwide to conduct strategic planning, redesign their processes and organizations and hold customer focus groups. In addition, local governments are using facilitated meetings to create community vision plans that incorporate the ideas and perspectives of local, county and state governments.
Located on the third floor of Building 10, the Collaborative Design Center occupies about 11,000 square feet and is designed to accommodate up to 32 participants.
In addition, Valencia’s Continuing Education Department provides a number of different programs for local businesses and their employees, including leadership development, human resources professional education, as well as language programs for both individuals and businesses. The college’s Continuing Education Department also provides on-site training programs for businesses throughout Central Florida.
Building 10 is also the new home for Valencia’s Intensive English Program for International Students. The IEP programs teach students English and range from two weeks to one year in length.
Designed by SchenkelShultz Architecture, Building 10 was featured among eight international projects in the June 2012 issue of “Building Design + Construction” magazine. The energy-efficient, green building was awarded a Level 3 Green Globes certification by the Green Building Initiative (GBI).
