KISSIMMEE – Valencia College has partnered with Faith in Florida to hold an information session for students who are interested in applying for DACA status (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) on Sept. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the college’s Osceola Campus.
At the session, a team of experts, including an immigration attorney, will review the DACA requirements and the renewal process. People who receive DACA status can get a work permit, a Social Security number and a driver’s license. In addition to addressing the documents needed for DACA status, experts will go over the process for DACA renewal.
Also, Valencia College officials will explain how undocumented students may be eligible to pay in-state tuition at Florida colleges and universities because of legislation passed by the state legislature this year.
The session, which will be held in English and Spanish, will take place in Building 4, room 105. Valencia’s Osceola Campus is located at 1800 Denn John Lane, Kissimmee.
Valencia College, which has five campuses in Orange and Osceola counties, has about 60,000 students. Founded in 1967, the college was named the nation’s best community college in 2011 by the Aspen Institute.
