Valencia to Host Roundtables with U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos

In her first solo speaking event outside of Washington, D.C., U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos will visit Valencia College in Osceola County on Friday, March 24.

Secretary DeVos will start the day touring Valencia’s Advanced Manufacturing Training Center, learning about the state-of-the-art equipment available to students at the facility, such as the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine, welding simulator and soldering lab. Immediately following the tour will be a closed-group roundtable discussion wherein Advanced Manufacturing graduates relate the various career opportunities afforded to them by these rapid skills training programs.

At 10:30 a.m., the secretary will attend another roundtable discussion, nearby, at the Valencia College Osceola Campus. This invite-only group session with students and faculty will focus on dual enrollment programs. Valencia currently provides dual enrollment education to approximately 3,200 students in Orange and Osceola counties.
