Valencia Culinary and Pastry students took home honors in the ACF State Competition this year at the Restaurant and Lodging Show last month (September 12-14).
Sweeping the Individual Student Pastry category were Jessica Laconis who won a gold medal for first place; Rosanda P. Williams, silver medal for second place; and Alexia Votaw, bronze medal for third place. Two other Valencia students won certificates of recognition.
In the Junior Team Competition, third place went to the Valencia team of Jill Holland (captain), appetizer; Michael Smith, salad; David Santiago, entrée; and Rosanda P. Williams, dessert. Amanda McGlothlin was an alternate on the team.
In the Professional Category-Signature Beef Competition: Jill Holland won a sixth place, silver medal and Amanda McGlothlin won a certificate.
