Orlando, FL – Valencia College will hold its 14th annual Valencia Dance Summer Repertory Concert on July 11 and 12 at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Valencia’s East Campus.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will showcase the work of Valencia students enrolled in the college’s Associate in Arts dance-performance program, and will include choreography from faculty and guest artists, including alumni from the college’s dance program.
Local high-school students who participate in Valencia’s Summer Dance Institute will also participate in the performance.
The Valencia Summer Dance Institute is a four-week program that provides low-cost instruction to high-school students from Central Florida. Participating students are given the opportunity to work with college and guest instructors.
This year’s concert features works by Lesley Brasseux Rodgers, artistic director of Valencia Dance Theatre; Jeanne Travers from University of South Florida; Eric Yow, artistic director of Yow Dance; Kevin Veiga, director of dance at Daytona State College; international dancer and choreographer Thomas Lake; Valencia alumna and current dance faculty member Jessica Smith; Emily Sutherland Cordell, alumna of Valencia College and Jacksonville University and former Valencia faculty member; Emmanuella Dorcely, Robert Kelley and Jessica Smith, Valencia dance performance alumni; and current dance major Brittany Ortner.
Ticket prices are $12 for the general public and $10 for senior citizens and Valencia College students, faculty and staff.
