Valencia College Announces Show Lineup for 2024-25 Arts Season

 

Orlando, FL – This season, the Valencia College School of Arts and Entertainment creates a vibrant calendar of live performances across multiple arts venues as it showcases the talent of students, faculty and special guests for the community.

Unless otherwise noted, all events will take place on Valencia College’s East Campus, at 701 N. Econlockhatchee Trail, Orlando, FL 32825.

Many performances are free for the community and discounted packages are available for theater performances and dance concerts.

This marks the 12th year of our popular Live Music, Live Art Concert.  In this unique artistic experience, Valencia’s Symphonic and Jazz Band musicians perform concert compositions while artists, lining the front of the stage with easels, create artwork before a live musical backdrop.

“Return to the Forbidden Planet” (Musical)

 Inspired by of Shakepeare’s “The Tempest,” this high-energy, gleeful jukebox musical blends sci-fi and golden-oldies rock ‘n’ roll. Starring a sinister scientist, a robot on roller skates and an uncontrollable monster, the musical is packed with the classics such as “Great Balls of Fire,” “Good Vibrations,” “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” “Young Girl”  and “Gloria.”

“White Rabbit, Red Rabbit” (Experimental Theater)

Forbidden to leave his country, Iranian native and playwright Nassim Soleimanpour distilled the experience of contemporary Iran and his generation in this original artistic performance. Since its global premiere in 2011, it has been translated into 30 different languages and performed over 3,000 times by legendary artists including John Hurt, Whoopi Goldberg, Nathan Lane, Stephen Rea, Sinead Cusack, Marcus Brigstocke, Dominic West and film director Ken Loach. In this unique piece of experimental theater, there are no rehearsals, no director, no set. A different actor reads the script cold for the first time at each performance.
