Every year, March is designated as Women’s History Month to honor women’s contributions to American history, culture and society.
This month, Valencia College will host a series of events to honor the occasion and celebrate the lives, work and dedication of women at Valencia College.
East Campus
Women’s History Month Event:
Date: Wednesday, March 22
Time: 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Location: East Campus, Between Buildings 7 and 8
An event dedicated to celebrating Valencia College women and empowering them through enriching professional and personal development workshops.
Lake Nona Campus
Women’s History Month Celebration:
Date: Thursday, March 23
Time: 12 – 2 p.m.
Location: Lake Nona Campus, Main Hallway
Join Student Development in the main hallway to celebrate Women’s History Month. Stay a while and enjoy a book nook stocked with literature form female authors. Refreshments will be provided.
Women History Month Panel:
Date: Thursday, March 30
Time: 1 p.m.
Location: Lake Nona Campus, TBD
Join Lake Nona Campus Student Development and the Student Government Association as they host a panel of inspirational women to share their stories and experiences. Refreshments will be provided.
Osceola Campus
Women’s History Exhibit:
Date: March 8 – March 31 – open only Monday through Thursday
Time: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Location: Osceola Campus Gallery, Building A and Atrium, Building 2
The exhibit features interpretive panels from the National Museum of American History and the National Women’s Museum. Exhibit panels tell the stories of influential women across American history and give a timeline of the women’s suffrage movement. Visitors will have an opportunity to listen to audio recordings of influential women in the past century and to see artifacts that tie the past to issues related to gender in the 21st century.
The exhibit opens with a free ice cream social for the Valencia community starting at 11 a.m. on March 8.
Winter Park Campus
