Orlando — Valencia College will hold its annual Valencia Dance Summer Repertory Concert on July 12 and 13, 2024 at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Valencia’s East Campus.
The doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will showcase the work of high-school students who participated in the Valencia Summer Dance Institute, as well as students from Valencia College’s dance program.
The Valencia Summer Dance Institute is a four-week program that provides low-cost instruction to high-school students from Central Florida. Participating students are given the opportunity to work with college faculty and guest instructors.
Choreographers for Valencia Summer Dance Institute include: Lesley Brasseux Rodgers, artistic director of Valencia Dance Theatre and Valencia dance faculty; Kathy Follensbee, dance director at Dr. Phillips High School and Valencia dance faculty; Brittany Ortner-Wisehart and Jessica Rodriguez, Valencia College dance performance alumni; and Ariaghna Parrilla Rey, who’s currently studying at Valencia College.
Choreographers for the Valencia dance majors include: Jeanne Travers and John Parks, dance professors at the University of South Florida; Eric Yow, artistic director of Yow Dance, an Orlando-based modern dance company and maintenance choreographer for Disney Live Entertainment at Walt Disney World; Jessica Smith, Valencia College dance performance alumna and current Valencia dance faculty member; Alexander Jones, artistic director of projectALCHEMY, a Tampa-based modern dance company and AEA equity performer for Disney Live Entertainment at Walt Disney World; Kevin Veiga, professor and academic coordinator for dance at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland; and Lesley Brasseux Rodgers, artistic director, Valencia Dance Theatre and Valencia dance faculty.
Ticket prices are $15 for the general public, and $10 for senior citizens and Valencia College students, faculty and staff.
