Orlando, FL – Valencia College Theater will present William Shakespeare’s classic comedy “As You Like It,” playing March 27 through April 6.
The hilarious tale of eight lovers, four brothers, and two fools comes to Valencia College’s East Campus on a stage designed to resemble Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. In “As You Like It,” one of Shakespeare’s last plays, the audience sees love from every angle: from sibling rivalry, love at first sight and dear friendships. Shakespeare creates a fantastical setting in The Forest of Arden, where disguises result in mayhem – all “in a beguiling game of love, lust and mistaken identities.”
Valencia College Theater presents this rollicking comedy in a production directed by Kathleen Lindsey Moulds, with set design by Greg Loftus, lighting design by Sonia Pasquale and costume design by Bobbie Demme-San Filippo. The cast includes student actors and professional actors from the Central Florida community.
All performances will be in the Valencia College Black Box Theater, located on Valencia’s East Campus in Building 3. Curtain times will be 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Sunday performances will begin at 2 p.m.
Special events include: A talk-back session with the cast and director will be held on Friday, April 4, following the performance and will be moderated by Valencia College theater program chair John DiDonna. Also, the March 30 matinee will also include sign-language interpretation for hearing-impaired audiences.
General admission tickets cost $12. Senior citizens, Valencia faculty, staff and students may purchase tickets for $10. Tickets can be purchased online at www.valenciacollege.edu/arts.
