Orlando, FL – On Sunday, May 7, more than 1,600 Valencia College students will receive their associate and bachelor’s degrees when Valencia College holds its spring commencement ceremonies at the University of Central Florida’s Addition Financial Arena.
Valencia will hold two ceremonies on May 7. The morning ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., with the afternoon ceremony kicking off at 2 p.m.
This year’s commencement address will be given by Elizabeth Quiñones Diaz, who received the 2023 Mary Smedley Collier Distinguished Graduate Award from the Valencia College Alumni Association.
Diaz battled mental health issues and COVID during her time at Valencia, but vowed to remain positive – and to have a positive impact on the students around her.
The youngest graduate in the May commencement ceremonies will be 15-year-old Erika Nielsen, a dual-enrollment student who attends the Osceola School for the Arts. She will receive her Associate in Arts degree.
The ceremonies will be streamed live on the internet and can be viewed on the Valencia College graduation website at https://valenciacollege.edu/students/graduation/. A recorded version will be available online one week after the ceremony.
