Valencia College’s Poinciana Campus will welcome community members to a special outdoor event on Saturday, May 22, for the Poinciana Community Resource Fair. Hosted in partnership with Brandon Arrington, chair of the Osceola County Commission, the event will provide Poinciana community members and their families an opportunity to engage with a variety of Osceola County services to discover available community resources, and receive information about Valencia’s program offerings, both credit and non-credit.
From 9 a.m. to noon, Poinciana Campus staff will transform the courtyard and multipurpose room into a fun-filled resource fair with career coaching stations, advising stations, guest speakers, community partner tables and entertainment.
“After more than a year of being in a fully virtual environment, we are eager to welcome our community members back to the Poinciana Campus and assure them that we are here to support the community,” said Jennifer Robertson, executive dean at Valencia College’s Poinciana Campus.
While there, participants can visit with local government agencies, nonprofits and businesses for information on housing assistance, utilities assistance, small business resources, school information, healthcare services, and much more. In the career coaching stations, community members can meet with career coaches for one-on-one resume advice, and tips for job interviews and searches. Valencia College academic advisors will also be on-site, providing information on Valencia’s programs, application process and course offerings.
Admission to the Poinciana Community Resource Fair is free to the public and family friendly, with a designated Kid’s Zone for children to take part in games, contests, and other activities. All participants will also receive a free raffle ticket for the chance to win a prize.
Please note that COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place throughout the event, with masks being required at all times by participants, partners and staff. Social distancing will also be in effect for all locations and queues.
