At Valencia College’s Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for March 2, the board will discuss proposed changes in student lab fees for the 2023-2024 academic year. In keeping with state law, all Florida state colleges must notify the public of any increases or additions to fees or tuition.
Summary of Proposed Changes to Lab Fees for the 2023-2024 Academic Year
Valencia College will not be increasing lab fees for any existing courses in the 2023-2024 academic year. The college will recommend the establishment of lab fees associated with six new courses.

Lab fees are additional costs associated with a class. These costs support staff, materials, supplies, and/or equipment to help students learn and succeed in a class.
By Florida law, lab fees cannot exceed the actual cost of the goods and services provided in those respective classes as needed for an optimal learning experience. Valencia College subsidizes a significant amount of the overall cost of offering lab courses.
At the Valencia College District Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., the board will consider the adoption of the lab fees associated with the new courses as recommended by the college. If approved by the trustees, the recommended lab fee schedule will be effective beginning in the Fall 2023 Term.
