Valencia College’s School of Arts and Entertainment will celebrate the arrival of spring with a series of four free concerts in April.
On Tuesday, April 2, Valencia College Jazz Ensemble will take the stage for a vibrant evening of Big Band classics, interpreting the foot-tapping standards of Count Basie, Duke Ellington and more.
On Thursday April 4, the perennial spring spectacle known as the Symphonic Art and Music concert returns for a fifth year as Valencia College musicians and artists perform live together. Watch and listen as visual artists get inspired by the sounds of the Symphonic Band and Brass Ensemble, creating works around this year’s theme, “Classic Literature.”
On Tuesday, April 9, Valencia College’s Choral Ensemble once again takes the stage in a concert featuring everything from gospel to folk to show tunes to standard choral repertoire. Guest soprano and Valencia alumna BriAnna Davis will perform a piece from John Rutter’s “Requiem.” The Contemporary Ensemble will close out the evening with songs from “Aladdin,” “Rent,” “Bring It On,” “Frozen,” and “Annie.”
On Thursday, April 11, the Valencia College House Band brings the spring series to a close and heralds the end of the 2018-2019 school year with two rejuvenating sets: one entitled “Songs of Love”; a second featuring the music of The Beatles.
All shows in this series are free and open to the public and will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the East Campus’s Performing Arts Center, adjacent to buildings 2 and 3. The Valencia College East Campus is located at 701 N. Econlockhatchee Trail.
