Valencia Theater Presents Greek Classic, ‘The Bacchae’

Orlando, FL – The Valencia College Theater will present the ancient Greek tragedy, “The Bacchae,” from Nov. 19-24, outdoors on the grounds at Valencia College’s East Campus.

In this new adaptation of Euripides Greek tragedy, a new religion and an upstart god from the east have inspired the women and the young of Thebes to rebel against order and authority. The young ruler, Pentheus, will do anything to protect his city, but at what cost?

The Bacchae will play outdoors at Valencia College’s East Campus on the green in front of the library. Don’t miss your chance to participate in this extraordinary theatrical happening directed and adapted by Michael Shugg.

Outdoor performances will be held November 19 through 24 in the Mall on Valencia’s East Campus.

A talk-back with the director and cast will be held after the Friday performance.

General admission tickets cost $12. Senior citizens, Valencia faculty, staff and students may purchase tickets for $10. Tickets can be purchased online at www.valenciacollege.edu/arts.
