Former Child Prodigy to Play Classical Guitar Concert at Valencia

Ana VidovicORLANDO – Croation classical guitar virtuoso Ana Vidovic will perform a free concert at Valencia College on Feb. 17.

Vidovic, a former child prodigy who has performed internationally since age 11, will play a concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center on Valencia’s East Campus, located at 701 N. Econlockhatchee Trail, Orlando.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Inspired by her brother Viktor, who plays classical guitar, and her father, who played electric guitar, Ana Vidovic started playing guitar at the age of five. She began performing publicly at age eight and was performing internationally by age 11. At age 13, she became the youngest student to attend the prestigious Academy of Music in Zagreb, Croatia, where she studied with Professor Istvan Romer.

Vidovic’s reputation in Europe led to an invitation to study at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore with Manuel Barrueco. Since graduating from the Peabody Conservatory in 2003, Vidovic has lived in the United States.

She has released six CDs published by Croatia Records, BGS and Naxos, and has released two DVDs.

Vidovic has won a number of prizes and international competitions. These include first prizes in the Albert Augustine International Competition in Bath, England, the Fernando Sor competition in Rome, and the Francisco Tárrega competition in Benicasim, Spain. Other top prizes include the Eurovision Young Musicians competition, the Mauro Giuliani competition in Italy, the Printemps de la Guitare in Belgium, and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York.
