Valencia College to Co-Host Global Conference on Sustainability in Higher Education

Valencia College – along with a number of colleges and universities nationwide — will serve as a host of a global conference on sustainability in higher education on Oct. 20-22.

The conference, presented by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, will be held virtually – and will provide an opportunity for a larger audience to hear from thought-provoking keynote speakers and presenters.

The theme of the 2020 conference is “Mobilizing for a Just Transition” and will focus on centering justice within this transformation and ensuring that it leaves no one behind.

“Our host institutions champion sustainability advancements in higher education. We are grateful to work with these select colleges and universities that directly contribute to the success of the conference and the sustainability movement as a whole,” said AASHE Executive Director Meghan Fay Zahniser.

The Valencia College Office of Sustainability, in partnership with the Valencia College student government association, will make the virtual conference available to all Valencia students, faculty, and staff.

“This conference will provide our students with the opportunity to network with peers from across the country and world to learn about what is being done on their campuses, as well as share about what Valencia is doing. We look forward to the ideas and initiatives that will come about from this conference,” said Carrie Black, director of Valencia College’s Office of Sustainability.

Students, faculty or staff members can register to attend by visiting aashe.org/conference and registering using their Valencia email address and discount code: VALENCIA100520.
