Valencia College to Produce One-Act Play Festival at Shakespeare Center

Orlando, FL – Valencia College Theatre will present a one-act play festival, on April 19-20 at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Orlando’s Loch Haven Park.

Now in its sixth year, the student-directed one-act play festival is a collaboration between Valencia College Theatre and the Playwrights Round Table.

The evening features a collection of short, one-act plays, written by local playwrights and directed by 13 student directors, using student actors. The result is a 90-minute evening of unique and diverse one acts.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Oldies but Goodies,” in honor of Central Florida playwright, antique dealer, set designer, decorator and theater community mainstay Barbara Solomon, who was affectionately known as “The Mayor of Orange Avenue.” Solomon, who owned the Oldies but Goodies antique shop on North Orange Avenue, passed away in 2018.

The festival will run for two nights only – Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free. Because this is a popular event, please plan to arrive early. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Lowndes Shakespeare Center is located at 812 E. Rollins Street, Orlando.
