Valencia College Trustees to Consider New Lab Fees for 2024-2025

At Valencia College’s District Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for February 1, the board will discuss proposed changes in student lab fees for the 2024-2025 academic year. In keeping with state law, all Florida state colleges must notify the public of any increases or additions to fees or tuition.

Summary of Proposed Changes to Lab Fees for the 2024-2025 Academic Year

Valencia College will not be increasing any lab fees for existing courses in the 2024-2025 academic year. The college will recommend the establishment of lab fees associated with 17 new and recently added courses.

For a complete listing of these proposed fee changes, please visit the Budget webpage.

Lab fees are additional costs associated with a class. These costs support staff, materials, supplies, and/or equipment to help students learn and succeed in a class.

By Florida law, lab fees cannot exceed the actual cost of the goods and services provided in those respective classes as needed for an optimal learning experience. Valencia College subsidizes a significant amount of the overall cost of offering lab courses.

At the Valencia College District Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., the board will consider the adoption of the lab fees associated with the new courses as recommended by the college. For more information about the meeting, visit valenciacollege.edu/about/board-of-trustees/schedule. If approved by the trustees, the recommended lab fee schedule will be effective beginning in the Fall 2024 Term.

If you have any questions about the proposed lab course fees, please email budgetoffice@valenciacollege.edu.
