Valencia’s Language Programs Invite Public to Open House on August 14

Orlando, FL – Valencia College will hold an open house on Aug. 14 to welcome members of the community to visit the new home of the college’s continuing education and language programs.

The open house will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Building 10 on Valencia’s West Campus. The West Campus is located at 1800 S. Kirkman Road, Orlando.

Tours of the new building will be available, along with information on the different types of language programs the college offers. Light refreshments will be served. Visitors can enter a drawing for a free, 8-week language course to learn English, Spanish or Portuguese.

Building 10 is the new home of Valencia’s language programs which are designed to serve local residents who want to improve their language skills for job-related reasons or personal enrichment. Programs offered include English as a Second Language, Spanish and Portuguese. Courses are offered weekday mornings and evenings as well as on Saturday mornings to accommodate a variety of schedules.  Students can begin classes at the level that matches their abilities.

Valencia College offers classes for students who are trying to learn a new language for work, travel or to better communicate with friends, classmates, customers or in-laws. Many Orlando residents are also discovering that there is distinct business advantage to speaking Spanish and Portuguese.

Building 10 is also home to Valencia’s Intensive English Program (IEP) and ESL for Teens Program, which attract international students who come from around the world to study English at Valencia College and enjoy the Orlando area.

The IEP is designed to help international students who don’t have a sufficient level of English language proficiency to be accepted to a U.S. college or university.  By starting at Valencia’s IEP, students can improve their English skills and start easing into life as a college student in the United States. After students transition into a degree program at Valencia, international advisors are available to help them with the admissions process.

Community members are welcome to explore the possibilities offered to them by Valencia College at this free event.
